CODE OF CONDUYUCT AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Have fun, be safe

All members, including coaches and other support, of the Tosetti Institute of Martial Arts & Fitness shall treat themselves and others with respect, especially in regards to other’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Members will adhere to safety protocols during martial and fitness activities.

The Institute is a safe place and we strive to keep it that way. However, participating in martial arts inherently brings risks. The best way to keep ourselves safe is to make us responsible for each other’s safety. Communication before, during, and after club activities is key to this goal. Each fighter should have, maintain, and wear proper safety equipment, including the activity-appropriate weapons. Before each bout, communicate with each other about who has what gear and what level of force is acceptable. If you see a member engaged in unsafe behavior or missing gear, remind them about it. Everyone makes mistakes, but by being vigilant and responsible to each other we can minimize accidents. If you ever feel that you cannot safely participate with a person, you are always free to decline an invitation or discontinue a bout.

Issues, incidents, or any other violation of this Code of Conduct should be brought to the attention of the coaches immediately or, failing that, as soon as humanly possible. It's much easier to have a conversation when all parties are present in person. Issues, incidents, and violations will also be brought to the Board, who may discipline or expel members following an investigation and hearing process.

The Tosetti Institute of Martial Arts & Fitness is a member of the HEMA Alliance and follows their Code of Conduct.
